Stories, images and videos of small adventure trips in and around the state of Idaho
Warm and partly sunny January weather beckons us outdoors to traipse among the sticks and leaves along the river near our house.
We drive a short distance to one of our favorite walking areas, the little Wood Duck nature preserve, and find the dirt landscaping that came with the new East Parkcenter bridge is looking more natural. I wish the crews would finish with the orange stretch fencing, though. It’s an eyesore.
It will be a sad day when this branch is no more. The kids have been riding it from time immemorial (to them).
Brenna’s usual bravery is apparently subdued by the cold she’s been fighting.
Hunter wants a picture since he’s shimmied out farther than ever. I ask him first to break off the little branch in front of his face.
Tractors and fencing have been in place a year or more with little to discern of the promised improvements and new park on the opposite bank.
Hunter has cheered up a good bit since being designated our scout through the “marsh” and thicket. He calls back to tell us he’s discovered safe passage.
I am not positive that Jessica is as tuned into the wonders of Wonderland as the rest of us.
Hunter is fending off beasts. I am glad to see him really enjoying himself, all from his imagination.
I guess the fairies and beasts have to be pointed out to Jess.
Hunter’s swords protect us from pursuing creatures.
Like the day, our walk reaches a quiet end as we slowly pick our way among brambles to rejoin mainstream lives.
